Ballet 1- Dancer needs to be proficient with:
• Skips
• Straight legs in movement
• Following class rules.
• Plié without bending over
• Legs properly crossed when front
Ballet 2- Dancer needs to be proficient with:
• Following and executing combinations during class
• Holding a two-footed Balance for a slow 5 sec minimum
• Holding turn out in 1st & starting 5th
• Proper foot articulation
• Pointing feet in jumps
• Coordinated steps like waltz walks, grapevines, balances etc.
• Working on splits
Ballet 3- Dancer needs to be proficient with:
• Holding a one-footed balance for a slow 5 sec minimum
• Holding their turnout
• Using their head placement with steps and combos
• Starting to be able to hold legs at 90 degrees
• Starting to incorporate Artistry
• Spotting
• If physically able, splits
Ballet 4- Dancer needs to be proficient with:
• Full use of head placement/epaulement/artistry throughout class
• Holding legs at 90 degrees
• Executing combinations via verbal instruction
• Executing clean Pirouettes
• Utilizing different musical accents in combinations
Ballet 5- Dancer needs to be proficient with:
• Working battu into petite allegro
• Executing a center adagio with out dropping the leg
• Executing multiple relevés in Arabesque in center floor
• Self motivated
• Executing hand in foot stretches with straight legs.
• Persevering through challenges, for example: brain teaser combos, high-held legs, or extreme slow or fast paced exercises
Ballet 6- Dancer needs to be proficient with:
• Focus and respect for everyone in the dance space.
• Ballet artistry throughout class and rehearsal if applicable
• Understanding and having a strong work ethic
• Understanding and being a good example
• Flic Flacs
• Executing balances and pirouettes in grande positions, for example: attitude, arabesque, a la seconde
Expectations for all levels
• Works on corrections from week to week
• Dress code (including hair) - comes to class prepared
• No personal talking during class time
• Be kind/build the ballet community
• Respect your teachers, yourself, and fellow classmates
