Ballet / Pointe / PBT
Ballet is foundational, and is important to create a well rounded dancer. Students will participate in barre and also center work in this class. Pointe may be taken after an evaluation by your ballet teacher. Dancers must be at least 13 years old, and have 5-7 years of regular ballet class training. Classes will learn a dance for the recital(s). There will be 1 costume fee for these classes, and dancers will perform in the Spring Show Ballet. PBT (Progressive Ballet Technique) is designed to strengthen muscles and joints, similar to a core strength class, but using ballet placements. Required for at least one year prior to beginning pointe.
Dance attire: A solid color leotard with no attached skirt and pink tights. Students must have ballet shoes, and hair pulled back securely in a bun-type style. PBT GEAR: Leotard, tights or leggings, ballet shoes or socks, hair pulled back ***medium/large yoga ball(45”-85”) yoga mat, tennis/raquet ball, 8” inflatable ball, Thera band.
Kinderstars/Tinystars
*Kinderstars classes are for ages 3-5. Students will participate in a combination of Ballet/Jazz, Ballet/Tumble, or Ballet/Tap, as well as creative movement. There will be a 2 costume fees for this class. Kinderstars will perform one dance in the Winter Show, and the other discipline for the Spring Show. *Tinystars class is designed for little ones around age 2.They will learn how to listen, hold still, tumble on the mat, follow directions, hear prompts in music, help each other, and basic ballet technique. Tinystars will only perform in the Spring Show, and will have 1 costume fee.
Dance attire: Pink ballet shoes for girls, and any color leotard, with or without short skirt, with pink tights. Hair needs to be pulled back. Black ballet shoes for boys, black sweat pants, and a t-shirt.
Tap
Tap classes will work on tap technique, rhythms and timing. Students will learn a dance for the recital(s). There is one costume fee for this class. Students will perform in the Spring Show, and a Winter Show performance is up to the teacher’s discretion.
Dance attire: Black tap shoes (lace up with 3 screws, you can find them online. Dance clothes can be a little loose but no baggy clothes. Hair pulled away from the face.
Adult Tap
Adult Tap will focus on rhythm, timing, and a whole lot of fun! This class does have a dance in the recital, but performance in the recital is not required to take class.
Dance attire: Dance clothes, and tap shoes.
Jazz
Jazz classes will focus on jazz technique, strength, endurance, and performance. There is one costume fee for this class. Students will perform in the Spring Show, and a Winter Show performance is up to the teacher’s discretion.
Dance attire: Tight fitting clothes are necessary, jazz shoes or bare feet, and pulled back from the face.
Superstars!
This class is for teens and adults with special needs. Focus is on safe movement, understanding movement and concepts, and having a really great time :-) We perform at some local events, and in the Winter and Spring Shows!
Dance attire: Pants, t-shirts, leggings, tank tops - what they feel comfortable wearing. Tennis shoes are great!
Combo Kids
These classes are for ages 5-8. Students will participate in a combination of jazz and tap, or just ballet. There will be a 2 costume fees for the jazz/tap combo class, and one costume fee for ballet class. Jazz/Tap Combo will perform one dance in the Winter Show, and the other discipline for the Spring Show. Combo Ballet will perform in the Spring Show Ballet, and a Winter Show performance is up to the teacher’s discretion.
Dance attire: Pink ballet shoes, tap shoes and any color leotard, with or without short skirt, with pink tights. Shorts/pants and a shirt can be worn for jazz or tap. Hair needs to be pulled back securely in a bun-type style. Boys can wear black ballet shoes, black sweats and a t-shirt.
Modern/Contemporary
These classes build upon modern technique and movement. Emphasis will be placed on movement using the spine, and parallel positions Beginning students will learn inverted body positions (being upside down), and floorwork. They will also learn creative movement. There will be 1 costume fee for this class. Students will perform in both the Spring Show the Winter Show.
Dance attire: Tight fitting clothes are necessary, and hair needs to be pulled back from the face. Bare feet or socks, according to instructor.
Hip Hop
A fun way to learn the new and classic styles of hip hop. These classes will be full of energy and help each dancer to build endurance. Students will also learn some hip hop dance history, and a dance for the recital(s). There will be 1 costume fee for this class. Students will perform in both the Spring Show the Winter Show.
Dance attire: Dance clothes may be a little baggy. Acceptable footwear includes dance sneakers or clean tennis shoes.
